Chahid Hafid, July 18, 2013 (SPS) - the Union of Saharawi Jurists has condemned on Wednesday, the Moroccan occupation authorities decision which prevented The Sahrawi runner Saladin Amaidanfrom entering the occupied city of Laiun after it has prevented him from leaving the plane that carried him from the airport of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, Spain, and forced him to return back on the same plane, according to a statement issued by the Union.

The Union announced its absolute solidarity with SaladinAmaida, and called on the Moroccan state to put an end to this disregard of international legitimacy and respect mechanisms and human rights treaties which it has signed.

The organization also called on the Moroccan colonial state to immediately and unconditionally free all Sahrawi activists and human rights defenders and political prisoners and reveal the fate of all missing Sahrawis, and opening the occupied territory of Western Sahara in front of the media and international observers, personalities and parliamentary delegations.

The statement called for the need that United Nations and Security Council hold their responsibilities regarding the decolonization of Western Sahara, and the establishment of a UN mechanism for the protection and monitoring of human rights in the region.

It should be recalled that this is the second time that the Moroccan state prevents Saladin Amaidanfrom entering his homeland of Western Sahara. Morocco had already stopped him on June 4, 2012 accompanied by his two brothers, Sheikh and Mustafa Amaidan. (SPS)
