SADR takes part at AU Executive Council’s emergency meeting in Abuja

Abuja, July 13, 2013 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation, led by the Minister Delegate for Africa Mr. Hamdi Abeiha, participated Saturday at the work of the emergency meeting of the African Union Executive Council, ahead of the emergency summit of AU Heads of State and Government scheduled for July 16-15, 2013 in Abuja, capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.


This special summit, being hosted by the Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, will mainly examine the activation of health policies of African countries to accelerate the elimination of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), tuberculosis, malaria, all diseases related to them, on the basis of the Abuja Declarations of 2001 and 2006.


The Executive Council listened to the report approved Friday by the AU Permanent Representatives Committee, which contained a comprehensive assessment of the stages of the implementation of African Union resolutions and to stand on the large encouraging results obtained in the majority of states, through the significant reduction of the new infections as well as the efficacy and inclusiveness of treatment.


This meeting attended along with the Saharawi Minister Delegate for Africa Mr. Hamdi Abeiha by the Permanent Representative to the AU Mr. Laman Baali, Ambassador in Nigeria Mr. Abbi Bachraya Bachir, in addition to Mr. Wadad Mustapha, in charge of a mission in the Saharawi embassy in Nigeria.
