Tunisia, July 12, 2013 (SPS) - Work of the meeting of the Committee of 30 to follow up the embodiment of African women decimal’s objectives, held in Tunisia, concluded Thursday, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Saharawi Women Union Ms. Fatma Mehdi.
The 3-day meeting allocated for the study of all the projects presented by the member states and civil society movements during the years 2012 and 2013, on the areas of combating poverty and encouraging the economic empowerment of women, as well as agriculture, food security and the environment.
The committee focused on the importance of the revision of the guidelines for the preparation of the proposals requested in the future, stressing the need to find a reference plan that contributes to the joint interaction between government institutions and civil society organizations.
It also discussed the possibility of facilitating the work and measures, and makes them accessible to everyone, including woman’s groups in the isolated rural areas.
The Saharawi official took this opportunity to held talks with several important African personalities present at the event.
These meetings focused on the objectives set by the Council since its inception in 2002 in Durban, South Africa, on the areas of encouraging democracy and development in Africa as well as to ensure a better participation in the aim to strengthen a partnership that contributes to the embodiment of the objectives, policies and programmes of the African Union.
