Sahrawi Diplomat:SADR's membership in African Women Network initiative Consecrates prestigious status of Sahrawi state in Africa

Abuja (Nigeria), July 4, 2013 (SPS) - The Ambassador of SADR in Nigeria, Abby Bashraya Bashir has said, In a press statement following the end of the second higher work session of African women network held in Abuja from 27 to 28  June, that" the membership of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in the African Women network initiative concretely consecrates the prestigious status enjoyed by the Sahrawi state, as a founding member of the African Union, as an effective and credible actor in all African initiatives aimed at achieving the dreams of the peoples of the continent in  development, democracy and prosperity. "

 

The ambassador pointed in the statement issued on Wednesday, 03 July 2013, that "the bilateral meetings and interventions performed by the Sahrawi delegation during the session, represented an opportunity to raise the attention of delegations of African and international partners to the great efforts of the Sahrawi Republic for promoting the role of women and pushing them to play their crucial role in all the political, economic and social life, despite the harshness of the conditions of occupation and asylum"

 

He also stressed that "the shocking testimonies conveyed by the Sahrawi delegation about all forms of abuse and violations, including rape and sexual harassment against the Sahrawi women in  the occupied cities by Morocco, have attracted the attention and sympathy of delegations participating in the seminar."

 

The Saharawi ambassador announced in the same press release “the establishment of a Sahrawi branch of African Women Network initiative in the near future." (SPS)
