Four Saharawi political prisoners on hunger strike in prison in occupied El Aaiun

Submitted on

El Aaiun (occupied territories), July 4, 2013 (SPS)- Four Saharawi political prisoners began on Monday an indefinite hunger strike at the local prison of the occupied city of El Aaiun to protest against their situation and demand their release or to be granted a fair trial, according to a Sahrawi judicial source.

Sahrawi prisoners Mahmud Hanun, Ajwad Farah, Sidi Mohamed Malah and Asluh Almailes were arbitrarily arrested by the Moroccan occupation authorities since last May because of their participation in demonstrations demanding the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

The same source added that the director of the prison in occupied El Aaiun, Mohamed al-Mansouri and his deputy "Abdul Rahim Aharoshi, had threatened the Saharawi political prisoner Mahjoub Aoulad Sheikh, abusively sentenced to three years imprisonment, and prevented contact with other Sahrawi prisoners.
