UN increases MINURSO budget to over 61 million Dollars

New York, July 2, 2013 (SPS)- The UN General Assembly has approved a budget of $ 61.7 million for the financing of the United Nations Mission for the organization of a Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) for the period from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014 against $ 60.8 million in the previous year.

 

The budget allocated to MINURSO for the new fiscal year consists respectively of 58.4 million dollars for the functionality of the Mission,  $ 2.8 million for the supporting the account for its peace keeping operations, and $ 532,700 for the United Nations Logistics Base in Brindisi UN (Italy) related to the MINURSO.

 

Overall, the UN General Assembly endorsed a budget of $ 7.52 billion to finance 14 United Nations peacekeeping operations, for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.

 

Furthermore MINURSO, it is, among other, UN missions in Mali (MINUSMA) in the DRC (MONUSCO), Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Somalia (AMISOM), Darfur (UNAMID) in Abyei (UNISFA), Liberia (UNMIL) and South Sudan (UNMISS). (SPS)
