The two foreign ministers of Algeria Mr. Mourad Medelci and of Ethiopia Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also reaffirmed their support to the efforts of the United Nations Secretary General Special Envoy for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, for a lasting solution to the conflict, in accordance with the international law, said a joint statement issued at the end of the official visit of the Ethiopian Foreign minister to Algeria.
The two countries called for a solution to the Western Sahara conflict, based on “the inalienable right of Sahrawi people to self-determination through the organization of a free, just and fair referendum,” said the statement.
The two ministers said that they “are waiting for the report of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission on this issue and which will be submitted to the AU Executive Council during its next ordinary session,” the source added. (SPS)
