El Aaiun: Moroccan police crackdown on peaceful demonstration

Submitted on

El Aaiun (occupied territories), July 1, 2013 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation police violently cracked down Saturday on a pro-independence peaceful demonstration organized by Saharawi citizens in Skeikima Street in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, according to a source of the Saharawi Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.

Moroccan intelligence apparatus launched a large-scale campaign throughout the suburbs of Skeikima Street, said the source.

The demonstrators chanted pro-self-determination and independence slogans, and announced their solidarity with all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.

It worth mentioning the Saharawi occupied territories are witnessing continued demonstration, despite the harassment and security siege imposed by Moroccan state apparatus.

The pace of these demonstrations has increased, especially after the latest UN Security Council’s resolution, issued last April. (SPS)
