Chahid El Hafed, June 18, 2013 (SPS)- The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, thanked on Monday the support of Algeria to the Saharawi cause that "reflects a strong stand in support of all just causes around the world "
In commemoration of the 43rd anniversary of the Zemla Inthifada against Spanish occupation in 1970, President Mohamed Abdelaziz said that "Algeria is known for its strong and unwavering position to support just causes including the cause of the Saharawi people who claim their right to self-determination and independence. "
After thanking the "political, material and moral" support of Algeria to the Saharawi cause, the President recalled that the historic Zemla Intifada contributed to the creation of the Frente POLISARIO.
He noted that Zemla Intifada was the outbreak of armed struggle to wrest freedom, self-determination and independence.
In addition, President Mohamed Abdelaziz called "unfair" the position taken by the Kingdom of Morocco since 1975 which caused "serious damage to the foundations of the Moroccan state."
The President noted that the aggression against the Saharawi people since 38 years in the context of "unjust" war , is "a violation of international law and the unity and stability of the region", urging the Moroccan government "to respect international law and the right of peoples to self-determination and independence. "
"Compliance with international law would strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, friendship, cooperation and solidarity between the various governments of the Maghreb countries," he added.
On this occasion, President Mohamed Abdelaziz wished a speedy recovery to the President of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Moreover, the representative of the Algerian National Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, Mohamed Bendjedidi presented the medal of the fiftieth anniversary of Algeria's independence to President Mohamed Abdelaziz. (SPS)
