Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), June 16, 2013 (SPS) - Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has recorded the success of the presidential visit made by the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz to the United States and United Nations in the period from 5 and 11 June 2013, in a statement concluded Sunday its meeting.

The statement noted that the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Frente Polisario Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz held, during his visit, talks with the U.S. administration, both chambers of the U.S. Congress, Secretary General of the United Nations and his personal envoy for Western Sahara, President of the Security Council, as well as a number of the permanent representatives of European and African states.

The Bureau, in the same context, praised the commitment and encouragement demonstrated by these parties towards the need to accelerate a just solution, which ensures self-determination for the Saharawi people.

These parties, added the statement, also expressed concern over the escalation of human rights violations in the Saharawi occupied territories, calling for addressing the protection and monitoring of human rights in the Territory, as cited in the recent report of the UN Secretary-General.

Recalled to the meeting of the President of the Republic with Ms. Navi Pillay, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in the capital of Switzerland, Geneva, late last May, Bureau of the POLISARIO National Secretariat stressed the need for international community to act urgently to carry Moroccan occupation state to stop repression, torture, siege and the plundering of Saharawi wealth, as to work in favour of the release of Gdeim Izik detainees and all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.

Focused on the situation in the region, the statement warned, once again, of the grave practices of Moroccan government that, said the statement, contribute to the planting of the reasons of tension and instability, through its violation of international legitimacy by its illegal military occupation of Western Sahara.

It, on other hand, recalled that Moroccan Kingdom is the world´s largest producer and exporter of the cannabis drug, adding that this would have a direct role in encouraging and creating smuggling and organized crimes gangs, in addition to terrorist groups associated with them. (SPS)
