Biskra (Algeria), June 15, 2013 (SPS) - A caravan made up of trucks loaded with foodstuffs set off Thursday afternoon from Biskra (425-km south of Algiers) to the Saharawi refugee camps.

Initiated jointly by the National Consultative Commission for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights (CNCPPDH), the People’s Provincial Assembly (APW) of Biskra and local associations, this caravan is also loaded with clothing and dates.

CNCPPDH’s regional delegate Mohamed Djedidi underlined that this action, which is a “humanitarian gesture of the Algerians to the Sahrawi people,” will be followed by the participation of a cultural delegation in the festivities of the International Day of the African Child, observed on June 16.

This initiative is “a message of fraternity and moral support to the Sahrawi people,” said President of Biskra’s APW Abderrahmane Berriche. (SPS)
