Western Sahara issue among three conditions for opening borders with Morocco (Algerian official)

Submitted on

Algiers, April 28, 2013 (SPS) - Algeria has set three conditions, including the question of Western Sahara, for the re-opening of the border with Morocco, closed since 1994, a senior Algerian official told Echorouk newspaper.

“Morocco has to finally admit that Algeria has permanent and irreversible position toward the Western Sahara issue,” stated the official.

“Every country defends its position and approach to the question of Western Sahara, which is under the responsibility of the United Nations, in accordance with agreed arrangements between the two countries,” he added.

Morocco, he indicated, has to immediately stop hostile media campaign against Algeria and to fully and efficiently cooperate to stop drug smuggling to Algeria. (SPS)
