Algeria has always supported right of peoples to self-determination, says Ould Kablia

Rabat, April 22, 2013 (SPS) - Minister of Interior and Local Authorities Daho Ould Kablia underlined Sunday in Rabat that "Algeria has always supported the right of peoples to self-determination" in accordance with in United Nations resolutions.

"Algeria has always supported the right of peoples to self-determination in accordance with UN and Security Council's resolutions," Ould Kablia said in reply to a question on Western Sahara issue during a press conference, held jointly with the Interior ministers of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) at the end of their meeting.

In this regard, he said that "Algeria is not part in the Western Sahara conflict, which is between two parties (Morocco and Polisario Front) and doesn't nurture any ambition regarding this issue, which is under the responsibility of the UN."

Since the beginning of the conflict, Algeria has called for the respect of the "right of peoples to decide their own future," Ould Kablia said, adding that the "solution should be found within the framework of the UN."

In reply to a question about the reopening of land border between Algeria and Morocco, Interior Minister said that this question is "very important" and requires that the settlement of some pending issues, especially regarding residence, property and movement of people.
