Algerian parties in favour of Saharawi people’s right to self-determination

Algiers, April 8, 2013 (SPS) - Chairman of the National Party for Solidarity and Development (PNSD) Mr. Taleb Mohamed Sharif confirmed that the position of Algeria’s official authorities, political parties and elected bodies regarding the Saharawi cause is that of the principle to implement UN resolutions and resolve the conflict in accordance with international legitimacy, indicating that Algeria remains in favour of the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.


In a courtesy meeting on Sunday at headquarters of Saharawi Embassy in Algiers with Ambassador Brahim Ghali, Mr. Sharif said that the international community is responsible regarding the Western Sahara issue, calling him to further abide by the application of UN Security Council resolutions that sets the framework in which the conflict should be resolved through.


PNSD Chairman as “blind and biased to Morocco” the recent statements by French President Hollande before Moroccan parliament, stressing that France seeks to change the policy of its successive governments since the beginning of Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.


On other hand, Chairman of Rally for Culture and Democracy Party Mr. Mohsen Belabbas has received Saharawi ambassador in Algiers Mr. Brahim Ghali, who has expressed his paty’s support to Saharawi national cause.


All these meetings focused on the latest field developments in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, including the serious violations experienced against pro-self-determination and independence Saharawis as well as the excessive and illegal depletion of its wealth by the Moroccan State.
