Saharawi participation at World Social Forum was “remarkable and distinctive” (report)

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), April 8, 2013 (SPS) - President of the Saharawi delegation that took part at World Social Forum, recently convened in Tunis, described Saharawi participation as “remarkable and distinctive”, appreciating the positions expressed at the Forum by Tunisian and European political forces on Saharawis cause.


In a report presented during a meeting on Thursday between the delegation’s members and Saharawi authorities under chairmanship of the Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of delegation Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Mohamed Lehbib said that the Saharawi delegation attended various activities, including evaluation session that was held in Tunis on 31st March and April 1st, 2013.


Saharawi delegation invited the World Social Forum participants to visit Saharawi refugee camps, a thing met with approbation and locked the door in front of Moroccan regime attempts, underlined the report.


UGTSARIO Secretary General indicated that the Forum was an opportunity to aware about the Saharawi cause and suffering the Saharawi citizen live on both outskirts of the Berm due to the Moroccan brutal occupation of Western Sahara.


This participation, he added, was a subject of attention by the participants, who came from various components of global civil society, and by international and local media.


More importantly, he pointed out, this edition convened in Tunisia, which is a new arena for the Saharawi struggle action thanks to the democratic transformation Tunisia have recently seen since the Jasmine Revolution on 14th January 2011, after it was exclusive for misleading propaganda by Moroccan occupation media.
