Submitted on

Nouakchott, April 1, 2013 (SPS) - An international network of support to Western Sahara was established Sunday evening in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, according to a statement of the Network.

The network is a popular independent organization which aims at raising awareness about the Western Sahara issue inside Arab countries, as well as to mobilize public support for the Saharawi people, who have been struggling for the independence of his country for four decades, said the statement.

The network includes a number of journalists, poets and intellectuals from several Arab countries. It is chaired by the Mauritanian journalist and poet Moulay Brahim Ould Shoaib.

This comes just two days after the creation in Tunes, on the sidelines of the World Social Forum, of the Tunisian Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi People. (SPS)
