Algiers, March19,2013(SPS)-A meeting, which brought together donors for the Sahrawi refugees, took place in Algiers at the initiative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the World Food Programme (WFP), the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday.
The meeting, held Sunday at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in Algiers, was attended by the Ambassador of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic and the presidents of the Algerian and Sahrawi Red Crescents.
This meeting aimed at presenting the preliminary outcomes of the nutritional investigation conducted in the Sahrawi refugee camps from 10 to 28 November 2012.
The investigation was carried out by a multidisciplinary team of experts of UNICEF, UNHCR and WFP, led by an emergency adviser in emergency nutrition of London’s University adviser in emergency nutrition of London University.
The preliminary outcomes of this investigation, of which the report will be jointly released by the UNHCR and WFP in July 2013, show “a slight improvement of living conditions in refugee camps,” the source added.(SPS)
