SRSG for Western Sahara received in Nouakchott by Mauritanian President

Nouakchott, March 11, 2013 (SPS) SRSG and Head of UN Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber received on Monday at the presidential palace in Nouakchott by the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.
 

At the end of the meeting, the UN official made ​​a statement to the Mauritanian Information Agency (AMI), in which he said he came to Mauritania, in his capacity as Special Representative of the UNSG for Western Sahara to present his greetings to President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed ould Abdel Aziz and to thank him on collaboration of Mauritania and its known positions.
 

"I also wanted to listen to of the President’s advices and to take notes about his   vision and assessment of the situation on the ground to ensure the success of the operation policy which we all work," he said.
 

"The meeting was an opportunity to review the situation in the sub-region in particular the situation in Western Sahara and the United Nations' efforts to find a peaceful solution to this issue," he added.
 

"The relations of cooperation between Mauritania and the United Nations are very successful and the meeting was very positive," concluded the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara.
 

The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Ould Isselkou Izidbih, Chief of Staff of President and Abdallahi Ould Ben H'Meyda, Special Adviser to the Mauritanian Presidency.(SPS)
