Washington, March 9, 2013 (SPS) - The US George Washington University received Thursday Sahrawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar, who is on visit to the US federal capital and to New York to plead the Western Sahara’s cause and denounce the violations of human rights of Sahrawis by Morocco.

In a conference-debate delivered to students, teachers and representatives of US organizations of human rights, Haidar explained the genesis of the occupied Western Sahara case, expressing the “serious” problem of violations of human rights perpetrated by the Moroccan authorities against the Sahrawi people.

She also expressed the brutal and bloody repression policy conducted by Morocco, through arbitrary arrests, beatings, incommunicado, torture, rape, extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, ejecting of people from helicopters and burial of living Sahrawis. (SPS)
