President of Republic felicitates Saharawi woman on International Women’s Day

Shaheed Al hafed (refugee camps), March 8, 2013 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz congratulated Saharawi woman on International Women’s Day for the achievements she attained, nationally and internationally, highlighting that this occasion coincides with anniversary of the fall of first martyr in 1974 in the march of POLISARIO armed struggle against Spanish colonialism.


In a letter to Saharawi women, the President said that the celebration of International Women’s Day in Saharawi Republic in the same day the Saharawi people commemorates the anniversary of the fall of the first martyr of the POLISARIO Front is a “coincidence with deep significances.”


President Mohamed Abdelaziz praised the great work Saharawi woman is doing in resistance and steadfastness, as well as in strengthening the foundations of the Saharawi state, noting, in this regard, to her engagement in all Saharawi institutions.


He, in this context, applauded the sacrifices and heroic struggle being waged by Saharawi woman in the occupied Western Sahara against Moroccan occupation.


He also appreciated the courage of Saharawi woman in the occupied territories, when she presented to the whole world a flagship model on administration and determination, as well as a hard lesson to the Moroccan occupation, when it decided to build Gdeim Izik, the camp of freedom and dignity.


The President of the Republic expressed solidarity with mothers of Gdeim Izik detainees and all Saharawi political prisoners and disappeared, including mothers of the 15 young Saharawis kidnapped by Moroccan occupation since 2005.


He added that the option enshrined in POLISARIO’s charters and principles is to empower Saharawi woman of historic and social standing, and to emphasize on all universal principles calling to ensure her full political, economic and social rights.


The President indicated that Saharawi woman is fully aware of the successive developments and existing risks, emphasizing that she will continue that noble and sublime mission from the responsibility entrusted to her.


“On this occasion, we pay homage to the souls of all martyrs of the country, and extend our sincere words of appreciation, respect and veneration as well as our warmest congratulations and sincere wishes to Saharawi woman,” concludes Saharawi President. (SPS)
