President of Republic receives head of the MINURSO

Shahid Alhafed, Feb26, 2013(SPS) President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz, on Monday received at the headquarters of the presidency, the Western Sahara, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara and Head of MINURSO, Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber at end of one day visit, according to official Source.
 

The discussions focused on the latest developments of the Saharawi cause in the light of the Moroccan military court’s rulings against 25 Saharawi political prisoners and Moroccan waves of repression that targeted Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories and southern Morocco in coincidence with Rabat’s military trial decision.
 

President Mohamed Abdelaziz, expressed to the UN official “deep concern of the Saharawi Government and the Polisario Front about unfair verdicts against the 25 Saharawi political prisoners” calling on the United Nations to work for  “eliminating these rulings and release all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails ”
 

President of the Republic emphasized on the need to extend the mandate of the MINURSO to include protecting and monitoring human rights in occupied Western Sahara until the organization of self-determination referendum.
 

The special representative also was received by several Saharawi officials including coordinator with the MINURSO, Mhamed Khadad and talked with Saharawi society representatives. (SPS)
