Sahrawi prisoners: Western Sahara Campaign sends an open letter to Moroccan authorities

Submitted on

London (UK)Feb5,2013(SPS) Western Sahara Campaign, which works for the Sahrawi cause, wrote Monday an open letter to the Moroccan authorities in which it asks for a fair trial for the 24 Sahrawi political prisoners who will appear on February 8 before a Moroccan military court.

The letter, which was signed by the Chair of the organization Ken Ritche, was delivered to the Moroccan Embassy in London.

“The ongoing detention of the 24 Sahrawi prisoners and the arrangements made for this trial became a cause of a considerable international significance,” the organization said in its letter.

Western Sahara Campaign questioned in its letter the choice of a military court for the trial of the accused who are not military.

Ken Ritche asked Morocco to “guarantee that the trial will be held in compliance with the international rules and that the national and international observers are not excluded from the trial.”(SPS)
