Saharawi people’s hardships highlighted at Algiers International Film Festival

Algiers ,December11,2012(SPS) - Feature film Wilaya, by Spanish director Pedro Perez Rosado, co-produced by Spain and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), was screened Sunday in Algiers.
 

Competing in the fiction feature film section at the International Film Festival of Algiers (FICA), the production filmed in the Sahrawi refugee camps of Tindouf (Algeria’s southwest) is the first fiction to involve the Sahrawi ministry of Culture as co-producer.
 

Screened in the presence of SADR ambassador to Algiers and the Sahrawi community, the 74-minute is a love story between Fatima (Mohamed Nadhira), returning from Spain where she was brought up, and a young man living in the refugee camp of Smara.
 

Through the story of Fatima and her difficult return to the refugee camp, the film shows the harsh daily life of Saharawi people.(SPS)
