Submitted on

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Dec 2, 2012 (SPS) - A group of Saharawi students of Al-Khansaa’s primary school, occupied city of El Aaiun, organized peaceful vigils to demanded a UN observer status for Western Sahara, as the Palestinian state, and to call for the right of Saharawi people to self-determination, informed a Saharawi rights source.

Moroccan occupying forces violently intervened against them, the source said.

According to many observers, Moroccan authorities of occupation have escalated its gross violations of human rights on the Saharawi civilians, after the visits to the occupied territories of Western Sahara by the UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy Christopher Ross, delegations of RFK Centre for Justice and Human Rights and UN Special Rapporteur on torture.
