Mexico: reception ceremony on honour of Saharawi President

Mexico City (Mexico), Dec 1, 2012 (SPS) - The Mexican Association of Solidarity with the Saharawi People, in collaboration with the SADR Embassy in Mexico, organized a reception ceremony on honour of the President Mohamed Abdelaziz, visiting Mexico to attend inauguration of the new President-elect Enrique Peña Nieto.


The ceremony was attended by members of the Mexican House of Senates and Representatives, as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Mexico.


Speaking during the event, representative of the Mexican-Saharawi Solidarity Association reiterated the positions of support and solidarity with the Saharawi people in their just struggle for freedom and independence, recalling to the historic relations already existed between the United States of Mexico and Saharawi Republic.


The ceremony was an opportunity for the presidential delegation to hold several meetings with Mexican political figures, civil society representatives and media.


Wherein, they briefed their interlocutors about the latest developments regarding Western Sahara issue, including the report presented to the Security Council by UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy Christopher Ross and the gross violations of human rights committed by Moroccan state in Western Sahara.


Among the figures attended the ceremony were; Head of the Mexican Senate’s Commission on Foreign Affairs Ms. Gabriela Cuevas Barron, PM Ms. Lilia Aguilar, President of the Mexican Parliamentary Group of Friendship with the Saharawi People, President of Confederation of Latin American and Caribbean Political Parties Mr. Gustavo Carbajal, Member of the Council of Guadalajara, Mexico’s culture capital, Mr. Salvador Caro.


The President of the Republic arrived Friday morning in Mexico, along with important delegation, to attend the official inauguration of the new President-elect Enrique Peña Nieto. (SPS)
