Ecuador supports right of Saharawi people to self-determination

Santiago de Chile, Oct 28, 2012 (SPS) - The President of Ecuador Mr. Rafael Correa, reiterated on Friday his country’s strong support to the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people to self-determination, expressing solidarity with the SADR government, at the end of a lecture presented at the framework of the International Fair whose country was invited for this year, according to sources the Saharawi from Mission to Chile.


During the meeting with the President of Ecuador Saharawi, the Saharawi Ambassador in Mission Mohamed Zrug expressed “the recognition of the Sahrawi government and people for the active role played by Ecuador within the United Nations and other institutions, in defending the right to self-determination and decolonization of Western Sahara.”


The Saharawi diplomat also met with the Foreign Minister of Ecuador Ricardo Patiño, where he informed him about the latest developments, including the negotiation process, situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in particular, the Saharawi political prisoners incarcerated in Moroccan jails.
