Submitted on

Paris, Oct 19, 2012 (SPS) - Associations for the defence of human rights, trade unions and French political parties called for a rally next Saturday in Paris to demand form French government, European Union and the United Nations to "act" for the release of Sahrawi political prisoners, organizers said Thursday.

To be held in Trocadero square (Human Rights Esplanade), then in front of Morocco’s embassy in Paris, this rally aims at, besides the release of political prisoners, standing against the trial of the 23 prisoners of Sale, expected on October 24, before a military court.

Protestors will also call for "stopping repression in Sahrawi occupied territories and respecting human rights in these territories," as well as for the establishment of  an "international mechanism" for monitoring human rights in Western Sahara.

According to Representative of Polisario Front in Paris Omar Mansour, this rally aims mainly at "denouncing" the presentation of Gdeim Izik group before a military court while it concerns, he told APS, "civilians who were caught up in a demonstration against the Moroccan occupation." (SPS)
