Chaheed El Hafed (Refugee Camps)- Oct 12, 2012 (SPS) - The visit of the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Hervé Ladsous to the region demonstrates "the interest paid by the international community to the question of Western Sahara," said on yaesterday the Saharawi coordinator with MINURSO, Mr. M'Hamed Khadad in a press release.
"The visit of Mr. Ladsous is important because it comes just days before the report of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General in Western Sahara, Christopher Ross on the process of negotiations between the Polisario Front and Morocco and the obstacles prevent MINURSO to fulfill its mission as all UN peacekeeping missions in the world, "he adds.
The Saharawi diplomat pointed out that this visit "shows that the international community focuses on the question of Western Sahara and that this issue has been neglected or forgotten."
The recent visit of the delegation of the RFK Center, the UN Rapporteur on Torture and the African Commission on Human Rights are another expression, showing that "human rights issues marching in the right direction" underlined the Saharawi coordinator with MINURSO. (SPS)
