Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Oct 7, 2012 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers reviewed Saturday the most important stages and national merits ahead during next months of the year, stopping at the preparations under way for the UGTSARIO 7th Congress, Festival of Culture and Folk Arts, 6th edition of ARTIFARITI and double anniversary; 37th of National Unity Declaration and 2nd of Gdeim Izik epic.

During the meeting chaired by the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, the Council heard presentations by the Secretary General of Saharawi Workers Union (UGTSARIO), Minister of Culture and Chief of POLISARIO Political Branches’s Secretariat concerning the preparations for the forthcoming national merits and events.

The Communiqué pointed to the positive impact of visit and reports of the RFK Centre for Justice and Human Rights, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights on psyche and morale of the Saharawi activists.

The Council on other hand hailed the struggle being waged by the Saharawi people in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, expressing solidarity and sympathy with all the Saharawi political prisoners, including Gdeim izik detainees.

In this regard, the Council deplored Moroccan state decision to bring Gdeim Izik prisoners to military trail on 24 October 2012, calling on international observers, lawyers and press to attend such unfair trail.

On other hand, the Council decided to organize demonstrations of solidarity with struggle of the Saharawi masses in occupied Western Sahara, south Morocco and Moroccan universities sites on next November 8, in commemoration of the 2nd anniversary of the historic epic of Gdeim Izik.

The Council called on all the Saharawis, wherever they might be, to possess “self-confidence, spirit of challenge, high morale, as to be ready to face the difficulties through self-reliance, be aware of enemy’s plots and intrigues as well as current security threats in the region, in addition to be prepared to confront all what threaten our existence, effect the legitimacy of our struggle and preclude achieving our ultimate goal; liberation of our country and set-up the independent Saharawi state,” stated the communiqué.
