Experience of Saharawi woman: finalization of seminar in Séville

Séville (Spain), Oct 7, 2012 (SPS) - Seminar on the Saharawi woman’s experience closed Friday at the University of Pablo de Olavide of Seville, Spain, in the presence of professors and researchers, informed a source of the Saharawi National Women Union.


These days were an opportunity to review the leading experience of Saharawi woman, through presentation of lectures, exhibitions and documentaries.


The seminar reviewed some aspects of Saharawi woman participation in political life and her experience in the areas of health, education, cooperation and art, in addition to her presence in peace and diplomacy building.


During the seminar, several testimonies on the gross violations of human rights committed by Moroccan authorities in Western Sahara were presented by female Saharawi activists, including that of Sulatan Khaya, Hayat Rgeibi, Sukeina Jaddahlou, Galia and Leila Lili as well as Aminatou Haidar.


At the end of the seminar, an Andalusia Woman Network, similar to Basque Woman Network which has been working with Saharawi Woman Union for over 8 years, was established in the aim to create a new model of common strategic cooperation with Saharawi women.


The seminar was attended by important Saharawi delegation includes the Secretary General of Saharawi Woman Union Ms. Fatma Al-Mehdi, Minister of Education Ms. Mariam Salek Hmada, POLISARIO Representative to Andalusia Mr. Abidin Bachraya, as well as some members of executive office of Saharawi National Woman Union.
