Washington, Spt 27, 2012 (SPS) - The RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights (RFK Center) has presented the Preliminary Observations on its recent visit to the occupied Western Sahara and the Saharawi refugee camps to Members of Congress and their Staff, calling on the US government to support a the inclusion mechanism of human rights monitoring and reporting among the mandate of MINORSO.

Emphasizing the need for “immediate stop to the harassment, violence, persecution, and intimidation of pro-independence Sahrawi people”, the Center called for “investigate, prosecute, and punish those involved in past and present human rights violations”
Furthermore, the RFK center requested the Moroccan authorities "to immediately suspend government agents under investigation for human rights violations and establish an effective vetting program; Ensure effective access to due process and judicial guarantee, without discrimination, and regardless of political positions."
