Semi-Medical Centre (refugee camps), Sept 2, 2012 (SPS) - The second edition of the Summer University of Saharawi Youth and Students’ Cadres “the University of Gdeim Izik” concluded late Saturday night its work, in the presence of Speaker of the National Council Mr. Khatri Addouh and some members of the government and Polisario Front.
The closing ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi, Head of the POLISARIO Political Branches Mr. Khalil Sid Mhamed, Secretary General of the Youth Union Mr. Mousa Selma, in addition to a number of high cadres of the Saharawi state and POLISARIO Front.
During the closing the ceremony, the organizing committee honoured some cadres of the hosted centre as well as participating national institutions and students’ branches.
The University was attended by the secretary generals of the students’ and pupils’ branches, as well as heads of local offices of the Saharawi Youth Union (UJSARIO).
It was marked by a number of lectures presented by ministers, leaders of the POLISATIO and cadres of the state on different important issues including the aspects and manifestations of Moroccan fierce attack, Saharawi cause’s reputation at the international sphere, Saharawi culture, settlement course in Western Sahara, negotiations between the POLISARIO and Morocco, security, drugs and role of students in raising awareness about the plight of the Saharawi people.
Participants of Gdeim Izik University considered it “a school for configuration, an important event and a positive gesture which will help the youth and students effectively contribute in the national action aiming at achieving freedom and independence. It is also a space to create communication between the generations through exchanging ideas and views on important national issues.”
“This is an important event for the Saharawi students. It is not only for configuration alone, but also a space for friction of youth and students with the national leadership to benefit from their long national experience. It is an opportunity to frame the cadres in order to follow the path until achieving the national goal, mainly freedom and independence. It is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences between young people on organizational and managerial matters. It is also a good tradition will contribute to the rehabilitation of young people and students to assume their responsibilities, especially in terms of management,” one of the participants told SPS.
At the end of the ceremony, a number of letters and recommendations such as the occupied territories, People’s Liberation Army, role of students…etc have been issued. (SPS)
