El Aaiun (occupied territories), August 25, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi political prisoners incarcerated in the Black jail, occupied city of El Aaiun, started Friday a hunger strike, to protest the bad treatment they face inside the Prison, quoted a communiqué of the Committee for the Defence of the Right to Self-Determination for the People of Western Sahara (CODAPSO).
The Communiqué confirmed that the prisoners are consistently subjected to rebuke, provocation as well as psychological and physical intimidation without any justification.
“While CODAPSO follows the inhuman condition of these prisoners, it alerts in the same time to seriousness of the catastrophic situation they live in front of the denial of most basic conditions of life,” it asserted.
It therefore called on all people of conscience to stand by the side of those detainees until their legitimate demands being achieved.
The group has been sentenced to three years in prison for involvement in demonstartions denouncing Moroccan occupation in several Saharawi cities such as El Aaiun, Dakhla and Smara. (SPS)
