Basque: demonstrations denouncing Spain’s decision to repatriate aid workers from Saharawi refugee camps

Basque, July 4, 2012 (SPS) - Demonstrations denouncing Spanish Government’s decision to bring home the aid workers form the Saharawi refugee camps held Friday in Basque Country, Spain, in solidarity with the Saharawi people and with their right to self-determination.


The demonstrations organized in the cities of Bilbao, Vitoria and San Sebastián.
In Bilbao, a group of Saharawis, sympathizers and representatives of 13 Basque municipalities staged outside the Spanish Representation.


During the demonstration, POLISARIO Representative to Basque Ms. Fatma Labiad urged the Saharawi community to continue the struggle to aware about the Saharawi cause, as to take part in all the activities could convey voice of the Saharawi people.


A representative of Basque friendship associations announced “determination to continuing the support for the Saharawi people,” adding that an irresponsible decision by Spanish Government “will not affect solidarity of free people with just cause of the Saharawi people.”


Spain’s decision to repatriate its aid workers from the Saharawi refugee camps announced early last week, but it had been met with condemnation by the Spanish society as a whole and the associations and organizations of human rights in particular, which expressed solidarity and support to the Saharawi people.
