Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), June 18, 2012 (SPS) - Frenet Polisario has announced its “full cooperation” with the new Personal Representative of the UN Secretary General in Western Sahara, German diplomat Mr. Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber, expressing readiness to work for felicitating his mission.
The Saharawi Coordinator with the MINURSO, Mr. Mhamed Khaddad, has pointed out in a statement that the recent report submitted by the UN chief Ban Ki-moon to the Security Council “insists on the need to strengthen the MINURSO, politically and militarily, in order to maintain its credibility and neutrality in the aim to complete its mission, which was established for in the organization of a referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people enabling them to freely choose between independence or integration.”
“We call for the application of this report without delay, particularly those relating to the freedom of movement and meet the citizens for the MINURSO, as well as opening the Territory for the international observers and monitoring human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara,” added Mr. Mhamed Khaddad.
The Saharawi Coordinator with MINURSO took the opportunity to condemn the Moroccan obstruction to prevent the visit of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Christopher Ross, to the occupied Western Sahara, in addition to Morocco’s efforts to block the UN efforts aiming to complete the decolonization of the Territory.
