At least 13 injured and 2 arrested following violent attack on peaceful demonstration in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), May 27, 2012 (SPS) - At least 13 Saharawi citizens were injured varying degrees of severity, as well 2 people were arrested after a violent intervention of the Moroccan occupation forces against a peaceful demonstration organized end of the week by a group of Sahrawi citizens at Tan Tan’s Street in the occupied city of El Aaiun, according to a source from the occupied territories.


The source said that the Moroccan repressive organs brutally attacked tens of Sahara citizens, after they protested against the arrest of Saharawi minor child following his participation in a peaceful demonstration organized by El Aaiun Middle School 3’s pupils at crossroads of Ras Al-Jaima, Tan Tan and Mazwar.


The Moroccan repressive forces deployed paramilitary tracks and surrounded the demonstrators, before they stormed house of family of Lafdil Ould Jalil assaulting his wife Glaila Halab and his daughters Salka and Am Al-Fadli.


Following is a list of other injuries: Salam Bara, Mujtara Mohamed Fadel, Ahmed Salem Rami, Hamdi Halab, Sid Ahmed Halab, Rabab Hamal, Faila Buchalka, Balgaisa Halab, Haml Noura, Haimad Salam and Salek Haimad.


Moroccan forces also arrestd Mbarek Ould Akek and Ali Salem Ould Kouri after the demonstration, before being transferred to police station where they subjected to ill-treatment and long investigation.


In testimonies broadcasted Saturday by Saharawi Television, a number of Sahrawi citizens confirmed that the Moroccan police were armed with swords, and did not take into consideration the humanitarian conditions of Ms. Glaila, which is handicapped and infected by a number of diseases. (SPS)
