On anniversary of armed struggle outbreak: Moroccan occupation forces suppress Saharawi protestors in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), May 20, 2012 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation authorities suppressed Friday Saharawi protestors in Mataala district, occupied city of El Aaiun, on eve of the 39th anniversary of the outbreak of armed struggle and 7th anniversary of outbreak of the peaceful uprising in occupied Western Sahara, informed a statement of the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.


The Moroccan security forces used batons and stones to violently disperse the Saharawi demonstrators, including women, children, elderly and youth.


This brutal act resulted in the attack of houses of the families of Mohamed Fadel Ould Lahbib Ould Mousa, Amina Balaw and others.


On relevant context, a peaceful sit-in organized Thursday night at Samara Street, occupied El Aaiun, where the Saharawi demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the withdrawal of Moroccan occupation and demanding self-determination and independence of Saharawi people, before Moroccan police intervened to disperse them.


The same source added that eyewitnesses saw Moroccan police car chased 12-years Saharawi children near Boucraa leadership. In parallel context, Moroccan police and auxiliary forces attacked the population of Al-Fath Quarter arresting one of them, which resulted in the arrested the young Saharawi Leshhab.


Moroccan authorities used to alert all its tools of repression and follow-up when a national event, including anniversary of armed struggle which coincides May 20th every year and Intifada of Independence coincides with May 21th, being celebrated. (SPS)
