President of Republic’s envoy received by President of South Africa

Pretoria (South Africa), April 16, 2012 (SPS) - The personal envoy of the President of the Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, received Monday in the city of Durban by the President of South Africa, Mr. Jacob Zuma, along with Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.

Mr. Ould Salek informed President Zuma about the latest developments on the Saharawi question in the light of the latest report of the UN Secretary General, to be presented to the Security Council next Tuesday, focusing on the bilateral relations between both countries and the situation in Africa.

From his part, Mr. Zuma expressed his unconditional support to the freedom and sovereignty of the Saharawi people over the territory of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.

South Africa declared on September 15, 2004 its formal and legal recognition of the Saharawi Republic and has established with it diplomatic relations ever since. (SPS)
