Minister of Youth and Sports attends meeting to evaluate the Saharawi children’s summer holidays in Italy

Rome, April 1, 2012 (SPS) - In the context of preparing for summer holidays of the Saharawi children in Italy, the Italian National Association held Saturday the annual studied meeting in the Province of Verona, capital of Tuscany (Italy), to assess the programme of Saharawi children’s holidays last year and agreed on this year programme, in the presence of the Saharawi Minister of Youth and Sports, POLISARIO Representative to Italy and representatives of Italian friendship associations with the Saharawi people in different provinces, according to a source of the Saharawi Representation to Italy.

The meeting allocated to examine a detailed report on the last year programme, especially those relating to the organizational aspects, its positive echo on the Italian civil society and its contribution to enlarge the circle of solidarity with the Saharawi people through the activities carried out by the young Saharawi ambassadors.

The meeting focused on the aspects of this year programme, calling for maintaining the gains that achieved and urging the Italian associations to host as many Saharawi children as possible in the light of economic difficulties faced by various European countries.

Participants discussed, during two days, different issues relating to the process including organizational, technical and administrative aspects, the ways to ensure good conditions for the implementation of the program in its aspects related to the cultural activities and the importance of children benefit from medical tests and treatment.

The meeting recommended to hold a preparatory meeting forthcoming May to reassure on all field preparations, according to the same source.

On other hand, the week of solidarity with Saharawi people, organized by municipality of Sesto Fiorentino in collaboration with Office of the Polisario Front in Italy, continues where a music concert under the title: “voices for the Saharawi people” held Saturday evening by famous music group in the region.

The concert was attended by citizens and families of the Municipality, Saharawi delegation, Deputy Mayor in charge of trade who organize a dinner in honor of the audience.

The solidarity week continues by opening an exhibition for photos and Saharawi traditional means, in addition to present a lecture under the title: “resistance of Saharawi people in the occupied territories” by a Saharawi human rights activist. (SPS)
