Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), March 19, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, considered that the positions of France and U.S. “do not contribute in the settlement of the Western Sahara issue, but feeding the Moroccan intransigence and disregard to the international legitimacy,” in an interview with Radio Algeria International broadcasted today.

The Saharawi President underlined that the positions expressed by French Foreign Minister, Alain Juppé, and U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, “do not, in any way, contribute to supporting a solution guaranteeing right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence,” adding “but they fuel the crisis by encouraging the intransigence and obstruction of the Moroccan Government to the efforts made by the United Nations and Arab Maghreb building as well.”

He deplored positions of the two countries and their contradiction with U.S. Congress decisions, which requires the respect for human rights prior to any military assistance to Morocco, and the European Parliament, which froze the fishing agreement with Morocco, recalling that the two bodies call for the respect of international legality in Western Sahara.

Secretary General of the Polisario Front condemned “the clear encouragement” of France and U.S. through backing the Moroccan Kingdom. (SPS)
