Sale (Morocco), March 9, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi political prisoners incarcerated in the Moroccan jail of Sale 2 on the ground of Gdeim Izik camp’s events declared that they will launch Friday a 48-hours alarming hunger strike to protest the mistreatment of the Prison’s administration as to demand their legitimate rights including releasing or bringing them to a fair trial, according to a statement reached SPS.
The statement denounced the jail administration’s continuation to practice repression and flagrant abuse to their legitimate rights as prisoners of conscience.
It also indicated that the miserable condition experienced by the group “is evidence of the falsity of slogans of the respect for human rights and the humanization of the prisons raised by the Moroccan authorities of occupation.”
The group, which is includes 23 Saharawi political prisoners, is still incarcerated in the Moroccan jail of Sale 2 on the ground of their participation in Gdeim Izik camp. Moroccan state still refuses to bring them to the court or releasing them.
They have held several hunger strikes; some of them surpassed 50 days. (SPS)
