Saharawi Ambassador to Ghana received by President of State Council

Accra, March 08, 2012 (SPS) - The Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Ghana, Mahjoub Sidina received Wednesday in Accra by the President of the State Council of the Republic of Ghana, Kofi Awoonor, according to statement of SADR Embassy to Accra


During the meeting, The Saharawi ambassador informed his host of the latest developments on the Western Sahara issue, particularly the peaceful resistance in the occupied territories, the gross human rights violation committed by the Moroccan occupation as well as negotiations proces between the Polisario Front and Morocco.


Ambassador Mahjoub Sidina stressed the need to extend MINURSO mandate to include a a mechanism for protecting and monitoring the situation of human rights in Western Sahara.


From his part, the President of the Ghanaian council of State expressed his satisfaction at the opening of SADR embassy in Accra, reaffirming his country’s firm support to the Saharawi people struggle . "Traditionally, Ghana has always been at the side of just causes," Professor Awoonor added. (SPS)
