Screening of the documentary “Gdeim Izik: camp of Sahrawi resistance” Wednesday in Mexico

Mexico, Feb 13, 2012 (SPS) - The documentary “Gdeim Izik: camp of the Saharawi resistance” will be diplayed Wednesday at the hall of Miguel Angel Granados Chapa in the Autonomous Metropolitan University “Xochimilco”, Mexico, informed Monday the Saharawi Embassy in Mexico.

The presentation will be attended by the SADR Ambassador to Mexico, Mr. Ahmed Moulay Ali, and Antonio Velasquez, Mexican human rights defender, who will present his testimonies on the violent dismantling of Gdeim Izik camp by Moroccan forces on November 8, 2010.

The documentary, which is a 27 minute TV format (HD-quality), focuses on the everyday life experienced by about 30,000 Saharawis over more than a month. It also gives a portrait of the violent and repressive attack on the camp and the subsequent repression of the peaceful demonstrations in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara.

The Documentary will be distributed to Saharawi embassies and representations, Saharawi media and movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people throughout the world, the organizers added.

The documentary, which has been screened the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated territories of SADR, will be displayed in France, Cuba, Venezuela, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Italy, Bolivia, Argentina, Sweden, Algeria, Egypt and others. (SPS)
