Boujdour (Occupied Territories), Feb 7, 2012 (SPS) – The Moroccan authorities of occupation continue looting the natural resources of Western Sahara including the Salt-rich areas between the occupied territories of El Aaiun and Boujdour, statement of Ministry of occupied territories and communities abroad revealed on Tuesday.

The statement stated that several Moroccan companies are taking part in exploiting salt from the mines area of Tislatin (90km south of El Aaiun occupied city ) , Basid (60km north of occupied city of Boujdour ) and Sarkau (65km east of occupied Boujdour) which contain a significant reserve of Salt.

Despite the illegal exploitation, the Moroccan settlers are the sole beneficiary through obtaining permits to extract and sale the Saharawi Salt, the source pointed out .

The Moroccan authorities of occupation maintain its arbitrary policy against the defenseless Saharawis which is based on repression, impoverishment, and plundering the natural recourses, the source added.

The statement, therefore, condemned the systematic looting of Saharawi natural recourses amid a silence of the international community, recalling that Western Sahara is still under direct UN responsibility. (SPS)
