Thirty-seventh conference of EUCOCO opens in Seville

Seville (Spain), Feb 4, 2012 (SPS) - The 37th European Coordination Conference of Support to the Sahrawi Saharawi People (EUCOCO) opened Friday in Seville, the capital of Andalusia (Spain), in the of Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of SADR, and members of the Saharawi government as well as representatives of the Frente Polisario in various European countries.

The conference also includes the participation of representatives of committees and associations of local and regional authorities, a number of NGOs, trade unions, voluntary organizations and inter-parliamentary working in favor of the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people.

The purpose of this conference is to raise awareness of European society, more specifically in Andalusia (Spain), on the conflict of the Saharawi people and the issue of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

It will discuss the search for a peaceful and rapid solution to the Western Sahara conflict.

The conference will also insist the EU and UN to support the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people without further postponement of the referendum on political, economic or geostrategic, organizers said.

Recent conferences have been held at Le Mans (2010), Barcelona (2009) Roma (2008) and Valencia (2007).
