Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), Jan 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi Union of Jurists (UJS) condemned Saturday the “barbaric use of force” by the Moroccan occupation forces on Friday against peaceful protests in solidarity with Gdeim Izik’s Saharawi political prisoners in a number of cities across occupied Western Sahara, in a statement reached Sunday SPS.
The Union expressed “strong worry on the deteriorated situation of human rights in Western Sahara resulted in the continuation of Moroccan state to violate the political, civil, economic and social rights of the Saharawi people and its encouragement to the chauvinistic and racial feelings against the Saharawi civilians.”
It condemned the postponement of trail of 23 Saharawi political prisoners incarcerated in Sale jail since a year, because it against the law, adding that the delay is not legal because the prosecution is not entitled do so after the announcement of the trial.
It therefore called on the UN and international community to the immediate intervention in order to cease the Moroccan machine of destruction inflicted on the Saharawi civilians in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and in south Morocco. (SPS)
