Tifariti (Liberated Territory), Dec 20, 2011(SPS) - UN Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, plans to visit the region before April 2012, Polisario Front representative to the UN, Boukhari Ahmed underlined Tuesday in Liberated Territory of Tifariti.

In statement to media on the sidelines of Polisario Front 13th congress, Mr. Boukhari Ahmed expressed readiness of Saharawi people leadership to revive peace process in Western Sahara.

"Polisario Front is always ready to work with the UN in order to affirm legitimate rights of the Saharawi people," he asserted.

Sharawi official pointed out that issues relating to mechanisms for a referendum on self-determination in Western Sahara "is now an element in the equation of the negotiations," adding that "there is a UN Security Council resurgence to move to essential and a practical solution, namely a referendum on self-determination and identification of the electorate. "

"For the United Nations, self-determination requires consultation of the people on their own fate. United Nations has done a remarkable job in identifying the Saharawi electorate which should be completed," he said

Polisario representative to the UN has described the so-called Moroccan "autonomy" as "outdated," saying that "Moroccan authorities have come to a realistic reading that its autonomy proposal is not the appropriate way to resolve the conflict of Western Sahara ".

"Our proposal is a referendum includes Moroccan offer as well as independence," highlighted Mr. Bukhari, considering the Polisario Front approach "the more convincing and more convenient."

He further explained that the strategic option of Polisario Front "is to give peaceful means every chance of success," regretting that the only major obstacle before success of this issue is"French position which continues the blind support to Moroccan policy of expansion against its neighbours. "

In this context, Mr. Bukhari Ahmed asserted that the French position "delay the achievement of peace in region", declaring other members of UN Security Council "have no problem with a free and independent Sahrawi state. "

He finally outlined that conditions are available to maintain peace negotiations between Morocco and Polisario Front in a "correct and just direction” expressing regret the French position" prevents the process from reaching its cruising speed. "
