Polisario 13th Congress adopts committee for election

Tifariti (liberated territories), Dec 19, 2011 (SPS) - Delegates of the Polisario 13th Congress unanimously voted Monday morning for the election committee proposed by the Congress presidency, which will organize the election of the Secretary General and National Secretariat members.

The Committee, which includes 85 members chaired by the Coordinator with MINURSO Mohamed Khadad, will set a programme of action to be presented to the Congress for ratification.

It will work on the preparation and supervision of the election process including check lists of voters and candidates, as well as counting the votes.

It is composed of representatives of the social sector including chieftains, young people, women and jurists.

Sessions of the Congress will continue with presenting the reports of the workshops of the national action programme, occupied territories as well as messages and recommendations.

Works of the Polisario Congress continue for the fifth day in the liberated territory of Tifariti, by the participation of 2100 Saharawi delegates, including 50 from the occupied territories. According to the Basic Law’s recommendations, the Congress presidency have the right to postpone it for 48 hours. (SPS)
