Madrid, Nov 5, 2011 (SPS)- The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, held meeting Friday in Madrid, with the Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign and Latin American affairs, Juan Antonio Yanez, as part of a tour would lead him to capitals of Group of Friends of Western Sahara (USA, France, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom), to "release" the negotiations process between the Polisario Front and Morocco, the Spanish news agency, EFE reported.
Ross and Yanez reviewed the current process of negotiations between the two parties of the conflict, Polisario Front and Morocco, amid the United Nations efforts to achieve a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution providing self-determination of the people of Western Sahara, the source indicated.
The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara will visitl Paris, Moscow, London and Geneva before returning to New York, in accordance with the agenda of the tour.
Twelve rounds of negotiations (four were formal) took place since 2007 under the auspices of the UN without major progress. the last talks held July in Manhasset (New York). (SPS)
