Algiers, Oct 29, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, underlined Saturday that the kidnapping of the three European aid workers from the Saharawi refugee camps “is a terrorist act targeting the Polisario Front and Saharawi people,” renewing strong condemnation to this cowardly attack.
“This is a criminal act targeting the Polisario Front and aiming to increase pain of the Saharawi people who have and still suffer the Moroccan state terrorism and its crimes against humanity since its occupation of Western Sahara,” the SADR President assured to the participants in Algiers conference on the right of people to resistance: case of the Saharawi people.
He confirmed that the Sahrawi Republic, State party to the AU Convention on Combating of Terrorism, is committed to make every effort to liberate the hostages as soon as possible, calling for condemning this crime and for solidarity with victims and their families.
On other hand, the President Mohamed Abdelaziz reaffirmed call on the United Nations to accelerate the establishment of a mechanism to allow the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to protect and monitor human rights in the occupied territories.
He therefore appealed to the international organization “to assume its full responsibility for a territory under its mandate and stop the illegal plunder of Saharawi natural resources.” (SPS)
